Clever! Special

"CLEVER”, the popular SAT1 science show, has been aired four times in January 2009 at 8:15 pm with a totally new format – “CLEVER SPECIAL”. Each show presents a different theme: “The Peculiar Power of Fire”, “The Exhilaration of Speed”, “The Amazing Strength of Water” and “The Incredible Powers of Nature” (Jan. 28).

The studio has been redesigned for newer, bigger and better acts: breathtaking stunts, fascinating acts, spectacular experiments and controversial discussions with internationally known experts. Hosts Barbara Eligmann and Wigald Boning have again invited celebrity guests, but this time they will not be competing with each other. The celebrities will have more to do with the themes by offering their own personal experiences as well as conducting a few experiments together with Wigald Boning.

But of course science is still the most important part of the show. For example: Wigald Boning trails a volcanologist on his risk-taking work days throughout all four episodes and reaches the limits of physical endurance climbing the fire-breathing Mount Etna. The Challenge is a continuing thread connecting all four shows as children and youths aided by specialists plan, build and realise a big experiment that will be presented at the end of the show. For example the young inventors have to redesign a VW Golf into a boat. The fascinating location for this contest is Ferropolis, the legendary City of Iron just outside of Leipzig.
